Readability Test for Where We Live
Readability test determine the readability of the book and to determine the grade level of the book. Also to see if the book is grade level appropriate for the students. I did this by using The Fry Method, this is done using three one hundred word passages. Then calculate the average of ALL three. Use the average as the estimated readability of the chapter.

Page: 8 Top of the Page Words: 25 (100) Syllables: 31 (124) Sentences: 2.43 (9.72) Readability Grade Level: 3 |

Summary
The readability of this book is just one grade level above what the book is intended for. The book is for second grades, but the three passages that I fryed are rating the book at a Third grade level. Which I feel is right for this book because there is some difficult material for second grades to understand, but for the students that I would be teaching this would be challenging for some and some would have no problem with it. I would be teaching the material to special needs students who would be in second grade. There is some material in the book that the student would have trouble reading. There are some words in the chapter that the students would get tripped up with, Some of the words are neighborhood, community, New York City, urban, suburb, rural, and there are a few other words that the students would have trouble with. Other than those the book is readable for them and they would be able to understand what I would be teaching and talking about to them. Each of these passages are good examples of what the students will be reading and learning about in the book.
As teacher I will provide the students with lots of help, but that is because the students are special needs. I will not let the students read the book on there own. What we will do is read the book as a class or I would have them read it with their parents or I would read it. The activities that we are going to be doing in the book will be directed towards what the students are learning and I will find worksheets, hands-on activities to do, videos to watch, and other book to help them understand the material better. I will make sure that I do whatever I can to make the material easy for them to learn and at a level that they can understand and comprehend with all there disabilities.
